Absolutely our Top Recommendation. This is the perfect combination of coverage and mobility. While the difference between Swimmer and SAPI plates is only a few square inches of coverage area, the cut allows for a far better range of motion.
The 26605 Triple-curve hard armor plate is certified NIJ 0101.06 Level IV Stand Alone ballistic solution. Manufactured from high-density, reinforced alumina ceramic core (Al2O3) backed with lightweight layered polymer composite fiber and finished in a black Cordura Nylon Covering. A foam pad is affixed to the Strike-Face in order to protect against severe drops. NIJ standards require 2 drops. These plates must pass the internal 10 drop test and are inspected via X-Ray prior to environmental and ballistic testing.
The 26605 is a newer, upgraded version of the 26148 and 26135 series with a lighter backer plate, enhanced ceramics and a foam pad on the face to help protect against severe drops
The materials used in the fabrication of these plates allows for projectiles to be absorbed within the plate itself, preventing dangerous spall as is common with steel plates. Don't rely on your carrier to stop high speed bullet fragmentation
